We all try to do our bit for the environment. We know that when you enjoy your delicious bottles or cans of beer, you put the empty container in the recycling bin, but the onus isn’t just on you – the end consumer. We passionately believe in our duty as a company to do our bit, which is why we have such a strong commitment to using eco friendly beer packaging.

As well as being a proud Staffordshire company, using local suppliers wherever possible, we have spent a long time exploring the best ways to make our service as green as it can be.

Fighting For The Environment, One Beer At A Time

The choices that we make as a company have a direct impact on the environment. We want to make sure that our footprint is as small as possible, so that you can order and enjoy your beers guilt-free.

We have consistently invested in green initiatives to make sure that we are at the forefront of change, using innovative products and packaging that reduces waste.

Our goals have been to reduce emissions for our deliveries, use more recyclable materials, and use less plastics. This is what we’ve done to achieve them.

Green Beer Delivery, From Us To You

Beer delivery has been growing over the last few years, with 2020 experiencing a massive and understandable boom. The joy of receiving a mouthwatering package of beer on your doorstep cannot be understated, and the ability to try exciting and exotic beers from the comfort of your own home is nothing short of a miracle.

Our Beer Subscription Boxes bring a tantalising selection of handpicked Belgian and world beers straight to you each month, without you having to lift a finger.

With beer delivery being our business, we wanted to make sure that it was as green as possible. After extensive research, we chose DPD as our courier. DPD have won Edie Green Awards in both 2020 and 2021, for the way they are re-engineering their operations to reduce CO2 emissions.

The Edie Awards acknowledge the enormous efforts that green businesses undertake to improve sustainability. DPD were the only parcel company to win an award, out of the 25 category winners, which shows how they have forged ahead of their competition in the green stakes.

How are DPD reducing emissions? Well, they have an ambitious and ongoing plan to deliver 100 million parcels a year using electric vehicles by the year 2025. Electric vehicles are the future, and a beer delivery with lower emissions is only a good thing!

This means that you don’t just get a premium delivery service, you get a green one too.

Banishing The Plastic

We don’t think anyone could forget the horrible images of wildlife trapped in the plastic rings from cans of beer. Naturally, we don’t use any of those – but plastic is damaging for other reasons, too.

Plastic sits in landfills, is very difficult to recycle and – let’s be honest – leaves a sour taste in our mouths. That’s certain to put you off your beer!

We have been working hard to eliminate plastic from our packaging, so that you can be sure that when your package of goodies arrives, you aren’t left with a pile of plastic. We don’t agree with huge piles of plastic protecting a small number of items (like you’ll get with some other delivery services).

We have even changed the tape we use to secure our boxes from vinyl to paper, so that is fully recyclable too.

Plus, we sell our delightful Belgian beer glasses. We would love to think that for everyone drinking out of one of these at a barbecue or party, there is one less plastic cup being used.

Eco Friendly Beer Packaging To Keep Your Bottles Safe

The reason behind so many companies using plastic packaging is because it can help to avoid breakages – and no one wants those (least of all you, when you receive your delectable parcel). We have put many hours of research into finding the best plastic alternative to keep those beautiful bottles and cans safe and sound.

And we found it. Our box inserts are made in the UK from 100% recycled material, and they themselves are 100% recyclable. They fit all manner of different bottle shapes and sizes, making them the perfect solution for our deliveries.

When you receive your box of goodies, you will be able to recycle the lot – box, inserts, tape, everything. The occasional bottles do get wrapped in bubble wrap for an extra layer of protection, but luckily you can recycle this at your local supermarket.

What’s Next?

We constantly work to improve our processes so that they are as environmentally friendly as possible, and we take this very seriously. We want you to know that when you order from The Belgian Beer Company, you’re not only getting amazing quality. You’re also putting your trust in a company that cares about the environment, our future, and our planet.
