Westmalle Dubbel is a dark, reddish-brown Trappist beer that is rich in taste. It is a living beer that undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle. It was first brewed for consumption around 1836 by the Trappist Monks of Westmalle Abbey but the recipe was updated in 1926 and hasn’t been changed since. A Trappist beer is different to an Abbey beer and can be identified by the “Authentic Trappist Product” logo.
